Thank you for looking into this and sharing. It's great to have more context based on your first hand experience and reporting.
I wish that people would wait until the results of the investigation before trying to assign guilt (not directed at the writer). I understand that the complaint resulting in an investigation lends credibility to the issue, but think the process should play out before we assume that the complaint is accurate.
Keep going. I'm looking forward to more on this and future parts/insights.
This is so bad. Based on this “journalist”‘s biased slant and Twitter interactions, I have to wonder if she has an agenda against Black women. What’s the point of painting Skylar as an angry Black woman based on one lame personal experience? The way this series was cued up, I expected multiple sources and more credible examples. This is harmful and I wish I could have her arrested for this horse crap.
Hi Miles, thank you for the faith in me. I appreciate it. I have blocked this person. I am also happy to provide any proof needed about my background in women’s basketball journalism. This is how I started, with a few stints in PR. That’s a natural career progression for media/communications professionals though.
I did leave the Seattle Storm because being an employee was a conflict of interest with my goals of being a women’s basketball reporter. I left the best job I’ve ever had to build my own platform. I take myself very seriously and would never do anything to stain my professional history.
I know people are not familiar with me in the USA, but I have the best reputation in women’s basketball in Brazil and am trusted by the biggest outlets, including ESPN. I know here in this country I have to prove myself more.
I’m very aware of all that. AND I have decided it’s time I stop holding back. That means making some people upset. But I will always holding myself to the highest standard of journalism out of respect for the profession, my leaders and players.
Roberta worked in PR for the Seattle Storm for 3 years before becoming an independent journalist.
I've seen her on press row at Climate Pledge Arena for college basketball, WNBA games and interview multiple WNBA players.
What Ash wrote is disgusting and should not go unchallenged. Seriously advocating that anyone is arrested for what they write is ridiculous. Its clear that she researched the subject, spoke to multiple sources and included her own experience. That is journalism.
If you think that makes me a troll, you're welcome to your opinion, but I will not see myself out of that conversation.
You’re a vile disgusting troll that enjoys spreading misinformation online for attention.
Roberta has been reported for impersonating a journalist.
She is NOT a journalist. She has NEVER been a journalist.
She is an EX employee of the Seattle storm who is now writing slam pieces on her ex employer. She’s about to get sued for defamation if she keeps it up.
She has no affiliation with the WNBA or women’s basketball in any way shape or form.
Crazy thing is that YOU can be served for defamation for spreading a bunch of lies. I’ve never impersonated a journalist because I am one. With a degree and everything. Journalists have different jobs and I chose to leave PR because I realized I connect with telling stories independently better than representing and organization. Not sure who you’re trying to protect here, but I have every proof possible that I’ve been covering the WNBA for over 10 years. If you continue spreading lies, I WILL seek legal counsel.
Arrested? GTFO. SDS surrounds herself with conflict. She brings a lot to the game and team, but she costs a lot too and I’m not sure the trade off is worth it.
As for Loyd, a coach does not owe a player enough floor time to earn private bonuses, especially when that player is already getting a ton of minutes and is slumping. If that’s the driving issue behind this supposed bullying claim, wow. Jewell is not consistent enough to warrant extraordinary treatment. I’m not convinced Noelle is the answer at head coach, but so far it looks like Jewell and her mom are being big babies.

This comment is out of line and you should delete it.
Whether you like the author's work should never result in someone being arrested.
Roberta is a JOURNALIST and a proponent of all women/athletes regardless of their ethnic background.
What you are advocating for is harmful, cyberbullying and makes me wonder if you have an agenda. Stop it.

She’s not a journalist at all. She holds no credibility and she has no association with the WNBA. See yourself out, you disgusting troll.
